On an average day you can expect to catch hoards of both Smallmouth Bass and Largemouth bass. There are good days when you catch more bass than Walleye or Pike. Smallmouth Bass are out around the rocks and off the shoals and the Largemouth Bass are in the weeds. Smallmouth Bass are common in the 1 to 4 pound range with a few 5 pounders being caught. Largemouth Bass are much smaller then in southern Waters but there is a good amount in the 3-pound range and some times bigger. It very rare for a bass to get over 6 pounds this far north.
