Smallmouth Bass are out around the rocks and off the shoals and the Largemouth Bass are in the weeds. Smallmouth Bass are common in the 1 to 4 pound range with a few 5 pounders being caught. Largemouth Bass are much smaller then in southern Waters but there is a good amount in the 3-pound range and some times bigger. It very rare for a bass to get over 6 pounds this far north.
